Homes!
Hi Ted
A few words to accompany the Magnus Opus(!) of myself and Betty, the kid sister.
I think the schematic is self-explanatory – but we are certain to have missed out or misplaced a house or two!
I am sure that we have also got a few people living in strange houses, so now it is up to you to put matters to rights!
A couple of points. The new Council Houses were completed (I think) in 1948/9, and the movement of the locals (such as the Pilgrims and the Hilliams) complicated things for us because they were merely relocated. The Reids (I think) were new to Polebrook, and I know not where the Inces came from (apart from the fact that Mrs Ince & Mrs Case were sisters. The Dunkleys also moved and another name that cropped up was Setzkorn…
I omitted:
The cottages opposite the Airport
Glebe Farm
Red Lodge Farm (Wise)
Armston in its entirety
I would like you to have your copy of the Ordinance Survey map of the village scanned; save it as a GIF, JPG or BMP file and email it to me if you can – I will then tart it up and return a copy to you.
I thoroughly enjoyed your Epistle and will endeavour to do one of my own in the near future.
I really enjoyed seeing you and Claire again – I hope to be over again soon and we really must make a serious attempt to meet in Polebrook for a real memory lane trip.
I am sending a copy of the this to Betty and will ask her to make contact with Violet and Archie to get their inputs. Perhaps we could make contact with John Hartley and Geoff Williamson
Best wishes
Terry
